Where does your pelvis go, when your legs are doing different things?
In this workshop we will explore the relation of legs to pelvis in asymmetrical poses such as:
• Virabhadrasana II (Warrior II)
• Trikonasana (Triangle)
• Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon)
• Utthita Hasta Padangustasana II (Extended Hand-To-Big-Toe II)
• Eka Pada Rajakapotasana I (One Leg King Pigeon)
Whether you are a beginner or regular practitioner, you will take with you a clearer understanding of how to create a supportive and grounding physical structure in these asymmetrical poses. Going beyond shape, we will identify the movement principle necessary to balance the work in the legs in order to build a stable and spacious pelvic alignment. This will allow you to play fully transition in and out of these poses, as well as master them with more ease.
This is Part I of the workshop series 'Movement over Shape'.
Each workshop will provide you with a movement principle that can be applied to a certain set of poses. Thereby you will be able to increase stability, maintain mobility and deepen into a safe and sustainable pose. The three parts of the workshop series are independent from one another. Taken together they reflect how the lower body and the upper body connect.

Imagine a pose is not so much a static form but rather a structure that gives space to constant, inner movement… Catherine(RYT 500) is inspired by the inquiry of these individual movements which sum up to build a ‘living’ pose. She helps her students create the awareness for movement principles and to build a physically supportive alignment. Catherine believes that by cultivating curiosity in our yoga practice we can train our mind to become more attentive and apply that same curiosity in every day life: What is it that supports me? What does not serve me? What can I do to make a change?
Catherine completed her 500hrs SmartFLOW teacher training with her teacher Annie Carpenter.
