About us.

Founded in 2016, The Vinyasa People began in the most humble of ways: a few yoga mats laid out in our founder Katy Scherer’s living room. What started as a small, heartfelt offering grew organically into a rented room in a local gym, then into our first tiny studio on Fürstenstraße, followed by our ground-floor home at Yin Nation — and finally into the light-filled space we now hold on the third floor.

We are proudly a female- and family-run studio, built slowly, consciously, and with deep care for community. From the very beginning, our intention has been to create a safe, inclusive space for yoga — one that encourages a mindful, authentic practice and supports people through all stages of life. Ten years on, those values remain at the heart of everything we do.

Today, we offer daily classes across a wide range of styles, including Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha and Jivamukti. Our Ashtanga Mysore programme is the only one in Bonn, led by our founder Katy Scherer, an Authorised Ashtanga Yoga teacher, one of only 34 in Germany.

Beyond our regular classes, our calendar is rich with workshops, masterclasses, guest teachers (both local and international), retreats, community events and Yoga Teacher Training courses.

We are now in our eighth year of offering our tailored 200-hour Pranayama & Vinyasa Teacher Training. Our alumni community includes experienced yoga teachers, studio owners and guest lecturers — something we hold with great pride. Ongoing education matters deeply to us, and we actively support both our teaching team and our wider community with continued learning opportunities.

Our students are at the heart of The Vinyasa People. Our aim is to nurture a grounded, empowered and connected community — one where you’ll just as often find social gatherings and charity classes as you will strong, soulful practice.

Welcome to the community. 🤍
